Blob Planter

Blob Planter

$200.00

The Blob Planter is a member of a series of architectural planters designed and manufactured by James Piatt in his personal studio. These planters are intended to serve as residences for plants and are constructed with a keen eye for elegance and sophistication. However, the extent to which plants can appreciate the intricacies of architectural design remains an open question.

Le Corbusier, a renowned architect, introduced the term béton brut, which translates to "raw concrete" in English, during the construction of the Unité d'Habitation in Marseille, France in 1952. This phrase is not meant to refer to the material itself, but rather to a particular style of architectural expression that celebrates the natural beauty and rough texture of concrete.

The Blob Planter is crafted by hand using a custom mold, with a mixture of concrete and nylon fibers that provide reinforcement. The planter features three drain holes to ensure adequate drainage, and an optional drainage tray is available for indoor use. The bottom surface of the planter and drainage tray are cushioned with cork.
